過去完成時

He had no sooner returned than he bought a house and went to live there.(no sooner ... than..表示“一 ... 就....”引導(dǎo)時間狀語從句，主句里常用過去完成時，than后面用一般過去時。)

for even though itwas still summer,it rained continually and it was often bitterly cold.（even ?though 即使，even甚至，ever曾經(jīng)）

After so many years of sunshine,Harrison got a shock.（After 在....之后，shock 震驚）

He acted as if he had never lived in England.（as if 好像）

He had hardly had time to settle down when he sold the house and left the country.（第一個had 是過去完成時的助動詞，第二個had表示有，是done的形式）

Harrison had thought of everything except the weather.（except 除...之外）
