Tear-jerking moments

I heard a story shared by a bother in my fellowship (J) two days ago. It is so touching that I decided to write it down.

The story happened when J was doing a short-term mission on campus last summer. Before he set off, he was eagerly praying that he could meet with Jesus or walk with him even for a moment.

At a bus station, he saw a man and started to talk to him. But the man rejected his evangelism and rebuked J for evangelizing too aggressively.

J left him, being very sad. Suddenly, he heard Jesus's voice: Don't you want to walk with me? That's the way I have been walking through. J couldn't stop weeping at that moment.

As the audience, I cannot stop weeping either.

Speaking of tear-jerking, there are at least two places in the Bible, where I can't help myself weeping whenever I read it.

John 20: 15-16: Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (NIV)

Luke 22: 61-62 The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly. (NIV)

I pray that my heart stays as soft as this moment for as long as possible.
