1、詩題COTE可以做多種理解，可以指英語方言中的小屋子、鳥類或哺乳動物的巣穴或飼養(yǎng)棚屋，在Urban Dict中還有一個義項專指“一位風度翩翩的年輕法國男子。他深諳魅力之道，內(nèi)心卻溫柔而真誠。他笑聲爽朗，所作所為皆充滿詩意”。這說明“Cote”在詩歌標題中可能按照一種字面意思理解，而是作為結(jié)構化隱喻的一部分，承載著詩人特意營造的反諷。
2、希望與和平的鳥兒暗指基督教圖像學中的鴿子（象征圣靈與和平）或古典神話中的鴿子（維納斯的圣鳥）。
3、一翼一禱（A wing and a prayer）戲仿了“靠一翼一禱”（on a wing and a prayer）這一習語（意指絕望的希望），強化了作者自嘲式的諷刺。
