方式/結果狀語從句在寫作中的使用

在句中作方式狀語的從句叫方式狀語從句，方式狀語從句在句中修飾動詞。在寫作中通常使用由as, (just) as…so…, as if, as though引導的方式狀語從句，as…so…結構中位于句首，這時as從句帶有比喻的含義，意思是"正如…"，"就像"，多用于正式文體，例如：As water is to fish, so air is to man. 我們離不開空氣，猶如魚兒離不開水。

As if與 as though 兩者的意義和用法相同。在寫作中要注意其后引導狀語從句的時態(tài)選擇問題，當引出的狀語從句表示與事實相反，謂語多用虛擬語氣形式。例如：He looks as if he were ill. 當表示所說情況是事實或?qū)崿F(xiàn)的可能性較大時用陳述語氣。漢譯常作"仿佛……似的"，"好像……似的"，例如：It looks as if it is going to rain.

例如：2011年12月大學英語四級（CET4）考試作文題目為Nothing succeeds without a strong will，在開篇部分說that the determination of most youngsters is oftentimes started with enthusiasm（大多數(shù)年輕人開始做事的決心和熱情很大），緊接著話鋒一轉(zhuǎn)說but the passion becomes increasingly weaker each day, and then diminishes as if there has been no such thing at all. （但是熱情會漸漸消退，直至消失，仿佛不曾有過），在這里as if 引導的方式狀語從句很貼切地描寫了年輕人做事的決心與熱情來的快也去的快，推進了下一段對文章主題“沒有堅強的意志，做什么都不會成功”的論述。

結果狀語從句在寫作中最常由so… that或 such…that引導，such 是形容詞，修飾名詞或名詞詞組，so 是副詞，只能修飾形容詞或副詞。 so 還可與表示數(shù)量的形容詞many, few, much, little連用，形成固定搭配。

寫作中掌握如下兩個句型，such+a+形容詞+名詞=so+形容詞+a\an+名詞

例如：so foolish=such a fool，so nice a flower=such a nice flower，so many / few flowers=such nice flowers，so many people=such a lot of people，so many 已成固定搭配，a lot of 雖相當于 many，但 a lot of 為名詞性的，只能用such搭配。

例如：2004年6月大學英語六級（CET6）作文要求設想你買了一本英文詞典，發(fā)現(xiàn)有這樣那樣的質(zhì)量問題，書店的服務態(tài)度又不好，因此給報社編輯寫信反映問題，在描述詞典的質(zhì)量問題時用了結果狀語從句There was such damage and misprint to the dictionary that I went to the bookstore to require for a replace.在這里結果狀語從句有效地表明了因詞典的質(zhì)量問題所導致的一個結果（I went to the bookstore to require for a replace.）。
