Engaging:?interesting or pleasant in a way that attracts your attention.?
Impassioned (usually before noun): filled with passion.?
Eg. Movie stars often have an engaging aura that is hard to describe. 電影明星經(jīng)常有一種難以描述的迷人的光環(huán)。
She?made an impassioned plea?for help. ?她情緒激動懇求獲得救助。
還有類似的表達(dá) made a plea for justice/mercy
3.?Between的用法（翻譯的時候要靈活處理）
Sometimes years will go by between rain storms. 可能幾年都不下雨。
The elevator girl reads between passengers. (摘自翻譯辨誤）在沒有乘客的時候，開電梯的女孩就看看書。
She modeled between roles. 在沒有演出的時候，她客串當(dāng)模特。
4. Hard-liner: hawk or hawkish person. 形容一個人做派強(qiáng)硬，常用于美國國家政治生態(tài)中。也被稱為鷹派，相對立的一派是鴿派 （dove/dovish).
5.?Streets ahead of?
以前 UK 的學(xué)齡前女孩在多方面領(lǐng)先男孩的一篇文章，用這種表達(dá)方式作為標(biāo)題
“Testing reveals girls are still streets ahead of boys”
Girls are racing ahead of boys in a whole range of skills, from reading and writing to showing the ability to concentrate before they even start their first day of school.
6. 關(guān)于黑戶的翻譯
They are living a precarious, paperless existence. 這里的paperless其實(shí)就是沒有政府的證明文件，或者說沒有戶口證明的意思。如果要翻譯黑戶的話，可以參照《經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)人》上的一個表達(dá)：Ms. Li is known colloquially in Chinese as a heihu, literally meaning "black hukou". It means she barely has any legal identity at all. 根據(jù)這句話，在第一次處理的時候，便可處理為：a heihu is someone who is denied a legal identity due to his/her family's violation of the one-child policy. 然后在下文中，heihu（斜體）便可直接使用了。
