Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.?
a. promise 應(yīng)許? ? e.g Give me your promise.
b. purify? 凈化，使純凈? e.g. The water is purified through strict process.
c. contaminate? 污染，弄臟 (pollute) e.g. This factory contaminates/pollutes the surrounding environment.
d. perfect? 使完美? There is no perfect in the world, so it is unrealistic to pursuing perfect.
e. holiness 圣潔? ?e.g. Holiness is a requirement for a Christian.
f. reverence? 尊敬?敬畏? e.g. Our reverence for God calls us living a religious(虔誠(chéng)的) life.
But since you excel in everything, in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you---see that you also excel in this grace of giving. （8：7）
既然你們?cè)谛判摹⒖诓?、知識(shí)、萬(wàn)分的熱忱，以及我們對(duì)你們的愛(ài)心上，都勝人一籌，那么，當(dāng)在這慈善的事上也要?jiǎng)偃艘换I。
