Lesson22 A glass envelope 玻璃信封

My daughter, Jane, never dreamed of receiving a letter from a girl of her own age in Holland. Last year, we were travelling across the Channel(說明后面那件是在渡海的時候發(fā)生的) and Jane put a piece of paper with her name and address on it into a bottle. She threw the bottle into the sea. She never thought of it again, but ten months later, she received a letter from a girl in Holland. Both girls write to each other regularly now. However, they have decided to use the post-office. Letters will cost a little more, but they will certainly travel faster.

From Jane's View:

Hello, I am Jane. Last year, my mother was taking me to travel across the England Channel and I threw a bottle -- into which I put a piece of paper with my name and address on it -- into the sea. And then I forgot it completely. But ten months later, I am surprised to receive a letter from a girl with my own age in Holland. And her name is Janet. Now we write to each other through post-office regularly. The letters cost a little more, but anyway, they certainly travel faster.

Knowledges

  • take sb to do sth / take sb to somewhere
  • into which 這個從句很奇怪, 感覺是錯的, 但不知道錯在哪里
  • be surprised to do

I never think of recognizing an English girl with my own age until I accidentally picked up a bottle on the beach of Atlantic. A paper with a name and address was put into the bottle. I'd like to know what the girl who threw this bottle like. So I wrote a letter to that address and then I was looking forward to reading the reply. Last month, I received a letter from England. It is that girl, Jane. We were all happy to recognize each other and we wrote letters regularly. We use post-office rather than drifting bottles. Althought they took us a little more money, they will be delivered faster.

Knowledges

  • drifting bottle 漂流瓶
  • write to the address 寫信到那個地址

Remembers

  • take sb to do sth / take sb to somewhere
  • be surprised to do
