My first impression for the director?Guillermo del Toro is actually not that good cause in the movie?Pans Labyrinth, there is a baby/kid eater called grey skeleton. It is scary not because its name skeleton but what it looks like and it dose eat baby. No joke. It was when I was about 6 years old and I have to watch the whole movie through that small space from my fingers. Anyway, it did leaves a extreme long shadow through my entire childhood. And when I did not wanna go sleep or whatever things that against my mom, my mom would say grey skeleton would come and eat me. God knows how scary I am.
Okay, back to our topic. So when I heard?Guillermo del Toro did a new movie called The Shape Of Water, I received it unwillingly. But anyway, it owns the awards of best movie during OSCAR. So I strides forward the first step of beating childhood nightmare and wraps up all my strength and braveness to watch the movie The Shape Of Water.?
To my surprise, the story is really really beautiful and no scary things.?It is?unusual to?evaluate a film as beautiful. Usually, you will say oh my god this is getting me on such as "ready player one", or oh my god, this has remarkable depth such as "the shawshank's redemption". But beauty is not that common in this century. Back to the 20s, most of the movie is still black and white. There has no much room for the CG or visual effects gets into it. So the movie has to be beautiful. You can never forget?Audrey Hepburn or?Isabelle Adjani. They are so beautiful. In the film The Shape Of Water, I saw beauty but a different kind.?
In the movie The Shape Of Water, you cannot say?Sally Cecilia Hawkins is that gorgeous. She is actually ugly from some aspects. But when she stepped into the bus, when she takes off her hats and put it against the window to here raining, when she takes off her cloths and lying into the tub and when she fells in love with that fish, she is so quiet and just like a river runs along into your heart, she is beautiful.?
So, it is not pretty as a fairy is beauty, that is pathetic.?Sally Cecilia Hawkins is the most powerful evidence to proof that beauty is quiet, like water all around you and beauty can be a single look into your lover.?
So?Sally Cecilia Hawkins from the beginning to the end is verify the name The Shape Of Water. Her beauty is just like water.?

In this film, the lights or the color is mainly green which represents?mystification.?
and before Elisa meets the her fishy boyfriend, her cloths is mainly green?
but after she met him, she started to change.?
sometimes we see something but we don't know what it exactly means but we feel it. Such as the shoes, the director gives the shoes a close up, we don't know what it means, but we saw it and we feel it. The shoes is red and her step is so joyful. We feel that she is in love.
and in the last scene, we can see the color of green, blue and red. This is RGB, the 3 components of light. Just like the three components of color, red, blue and yellow, RGB can be any other colors. So does their love. They can be anything.
Ideology
As I said before, Sally Cecilia Hawkins is the representation of water in this film. But in this movie, ideology can be really simple. Water is water. Using different forms of water to represents different kinds of feeling.?
This is the detail in the film when Elisa sits in the bus and plays the drops on the window. This two drops of water melts into each other.
So not only?Sally Cecilia Hawkins is the meaning of the film. Water is always here to show feelings and foreshadow the next page in this story.
Ending
Although this film is great, we have to admit its short backs. Such as the story. This is just a story about love, a girl and a fish and nothing else. You see straight into its back and there is no depth in it. You cannot watch it to foreshadow the society, you cannot watch it to warn people. It is just a story. Unlike the three billboards, The Shape Of Water is something very personal. It only belongs to the big boy who never grows up,?Guillermo del Toro. You can dislike it or unlike it. But?Guillermo del Toro is playing funny through the whole movie cause this is the love letter he gives to the film and his whole childhood. It is not something?industrialized. This is the purity of film.
