How to describe a gene

These days I need to know the information about some RNA binding proteins (RBPs). I after I have read the information provided by NCBI and GeneCards. I really very confused ! >_<

Here are two examples in NCBI and GeneCards So in order to diminish my confusion. I think before we look at these web site. We first need to figure out which information you want to know.

Which information you want to know

  1. determined by publication or just predicted by softwares
  2. which type of information you want to know (emphasized information)
  3. if you are the author of the website how do you describe the gene

Determined or predicted

Generally, the website will mark "this is predicted". Otherwise you can see the superscripts on the sentences, and find the supported publications. It will cost a lot patience ! So please be patient.

Emphasized information

This could lead you to focus on something, and quickly find the answers of you interest.

If you were the author

I would do such things to organize my description:

I think those questions are good for you to reduce the confusions!
