Don't underrate the good work habits.
In order to know each day what you need to do, you 'd better have to-do lists ,that are reasonably prioritized ,or other tools that can help.
You need to know whether you are following your design, so you should establish clear benchmarks.ideally you need to have someone other than yourself measure objectively if you have done what you set out to do.
People good at this stage are often self-disciplined , proactive and results-oriented rather than randomly react to the stuff that comes at them that can divert themselves from execution.
If you are not good at it, get help, there are many successful creative people good at it.
