David ran across the chicken yard, rushing toward his sister. Hearing David’s approaching footsteps, Mary stopped swinging and looked up in confusion. No time allowed for explanation, David swiftly took her wrist, dragged her down and shouted, “Run! A huge bull!” The deep moan of the bull was nearing. Overcome with a wave of terror, Mary sped up without hesitation. But shortly afterwards, she found herself unable to catch up with David. Out of breath, Mary erupted into tears. “No worries. I am always with you, Mary.” David comforted his sister, gently patting her on the shoulder. Somehow, to their great surprise, the sounds of the bull suddenly came to a stop. They looked back cautiously, only to find that the bull was piercing its horns through a piece of red cloth.
Seeing this, David immediately pulled Mary’s red sweater off. “It is the colour red that captures the bull’s attention,” said David, showing plainly the enlightenment which had come to him. Having got rid of the red sweater, the two siblings were then safe and sound. The flowers swayed gracefully in the breeze, while the tree leaves whispered softly. “But for David’s timely help, I would have been trapped in danger now,” Mary thought to herself with a sigh of relief. A mixture of guilt and gratitude surged through her body. She regretted having hated David for trivial matters this morning. At the same time, she could not help expressing her heartfelt gratitude to his little brother. Blue skies standing tall and far, the siblings hugged each other and wept for joy.
