This graph shows the average global sea level increase from 1997 to 2005, measured in millimeters, once a year. Overall, the chart shows a steady increase in the average global sea level over the past eight years. Before 1999, the global mean sea level was relatively stable, fluctuating between one millimeter. In 1999, the mean sea level was 5 millimeters. In 2000, the height increased by 5 millimeters to 10 millimeters, then slowly increased by about 13 millimeters in 2001. It soared to about 19 millimeters between 2001 and 2002. It rose steadily over the next four years to nearly 28millimeters in 2005, the highest level in eight years. (109 words)
