今日學(xué)習(xí)單詞：count 。

Count 這詞算是一個(gè)高頻詞匯了，日常使用很頻繁。今天學(xué)習(xí)的并不是我們所熟知的“to?add (people or things) together to find the total number”，而是學(xué)習(xí)另外一些重要的義項(xiàng)。

1.? to be accepted or allowed officially.

There was a penalty on the play, so the goal does not count. [=the goal is not allowed]

因?yàn)楸荣愔杏蟹敢?guī)，所以剛才的得分無效。

2.? to consider or regard (someone or something) in a specified way

I count myself lucky.

我挺幸運(yùn)的。

常與 as 連用：

I don't count him as my friend anymore.

我和他友盡了。

3.? to be considered or regarded as something

The job is so easy that it hardly counts as work. [=it can hardly be considered to be work]

這份任務(wù)太簡單了，簡直不能稱之為任務(wù)。

4.? to have value or importance

Every vote counts.

每一票都很重要。

What happened doesn’t count, but how you respond to it does.

重要的不是發(fā)生了什么事，而是你如何應(yīng)對這件事。

常與 for連用：

Her promises don't count for much. [=his promises don't have much value]

她的承諾根本沒用。

學(xué)到這里，我想起了電影Titanic 中，Jack 盛裝出席 Rose 和未婚夫的晚宴，他離開時(shí)悄悄地遞給 Rose 一個(gè)小紙條，上面寫著“Make it count”。Jack 愛慕 Rose，期待與她度過一個(gè)難忘的夜晚，所以向 Rose 發(fā)出邀請，參加底層甲板的舞會。但是環(huán)境不允許他口頭發(fā)出邀請，于是他寫了一個(gè)小紙條，Make it count。把握機(jī)會！最終結(jié)果大家都知道了。

近期重啟英語學(xué)習(xí)，心態(tài)發(fā)生了很大的變化。盡管心中有一個(gè)具象的目標(biāo)，但是我覺得不要每天去想這個(gè)目標(biāo)，而是從一些關(guān)鍵的小事開始做起，會有更好的效果。想到許岑老師倡導(dǎo)的“做了再說”，結(jié)合 count 的學(xué)習(xí)，可以造一個(gè)句子：

Starting doing it? counts more than planing to do it.?

此外 count 還有很多有用的詞組搭配用法，比如count in = to plan to include (someone) in an activity.還有count on (someone) = to trust (someone)/ to expect (someone) to do something/count on (something) = to expect (something) to happen 。如果有興趣，大家也可以自己去查一下字典，挺有趣的。
