福爾摩斯緊接對(duì)離開(kāi)的老太太進(jìn)行了跟蹤，但這位神秘人物卻在坐出租馬車(chē)的中途人間蒸發(fā)了。困擾之時(shí)，一群流浪小孩卻找上門(mén)來(lái)，原來(lái)這居然是福爾摩斯的偵探小分隊(duì)。同時(shí)，格雷格森探員卻突然宣稱(chēng)自己已經(jīng)將兇手繩之以法了，那么他是怎么“偵破”這起案件的呢？

“I had no idea that you noticed that,” Gregson said, looking quite upset.
“Have you been there?”
“No.”
“Ha!” cried Gregson, in a relieved voice, “you should never neglect(忽略) a chance, however small it may seem.”
