Today I watch a clip of video called 5 1/2 mentors that will change your life. The speaker is Doug Stewart. He inspires me a lot and enlightens me with sth. Why must we have mentors? I have my reasons.
Imagine you are an explorer to find a new place. ?Or you are in a unknown place! ?What will u do! Do things all by yourself?If not , what can u do? I think u need to first find a ?guide , or by a map . U just provide your money or value. Think about it. If u just explore this new place. How much time can u spend?It is so easy to answer.
Take an instance, if u want to go to a place, how will u go there? U just ask people along the road for direction? We usually use e-map in cellphone . The function of GPS gives us information of where we are and then give us routes to go to your destination! With this technology, it largely shortens the cost of time we spend on the road.
The E-map is just a mentor. It saves time! Actually it saves money.
Doud stewart says in his TED speech , there are 5 mentors , and 1/2 mentor. The first is world view mentor ！For me , he or she is like a big-piture guy who will give u innovative perspectives. I mean wisdom. The second is street view mentor. U go out and watch people. They give u feedbacks. THE 3rd is stealth mentor. Stealth is just like ninjia. In its appearance, u can not see any, but he or she is very smart just like Snowden, a spy. The 4th is time machine mentor. It means people who have been passed away. We usually read about them. They are Da vince, Einstein, etc. The 5th is categorical mentor. They are experts from different fields. We can learn from them. The last 1/2 is anti-mentor who leave bad influence. ?It tells us what we should not do.
So what I get from him is that everybody can be your guide. And I will set myself as an interviewer to discover the hidden information that will be helpful. Go out with courage to interview people , connect with them, exchange value for win-win.
