第五章 動(dòng)名詞
動(dòng)名詞和現(xiàn)在分詞的拼法相同，但是動(dòng)名詞屬于名詞類，現(xiàn)在分詞卻是當(dāng)做形容詞使用，兩者詞類不同。
動(dòng)名詞和普通名詞的比較
- E.g. Let me buy you a drink.
- Drinking is his only vice.
- 動(dòng)名詞相對(duì)于普通名詞而言，仍然保留了若干程度的“動(dòng)作”意味，而且有持續(xù)性的暗示。
- I am not afraid of death, but I am scared of dying.
動(dòng)名詞與名詞從句的比較
- I really enjoyed teaching English to school children at night.
- -> I really enjoyed that I taught English to school children at night.
- 動(dòng)名詞短語可以視為名詞從句的變化。
- 如果主語不能省略的話
- I don't like that John calls my girlfriend day after day.
- I don't like calling my girlfriend day after day. (false)
- 動(dòng)名詞結(jié)構(gòu)接近普通名詞
- -> I don't like John's calling my grilfriend day after day.
動(dòng)名詞的被動(dòng)態(tài) being Ven
- That I was invited here is a great honor.
- 許多人不知道being 怎么用，其實(shí)being 這個(gè)詞，沒有任何意思，意義就在于-ing部分。-ing可能是現(xiàn)在分詞，表示進(jìn)行的暗示，或者是動(dòng)名詞，有詞類變化的功能
- -> Being invited here is a great honor.
- 這就是動(dòng)名詞被動(dòng)態(tài)的處理方式
- I just took a swim and don't feel like swimming now.
- I resent being called a hypocrite, especially when I'm telling the truth.
- The cats' screaming outside my window every night is getting on my nerves.
- Learning a language is learning all about the culture.
- Mountain-climbing is a very exacting sport.
- In doing magic, the trick lies in diverting your audience.
- The worker objected to being treated like slaves.
- Everyone marveled at Michael Chang's winning the French Open.
- If you don't mind my saying so, I think you are in the wrong.
- He is used to lectures giving he's a teacher.
