The China Dream, The American Dream, and Hofstede's Cultural Dimension Theory1

Individualism versus Collectivism is one of the six dimensions of the Hofstede's Cultural Dimension Theory. Typically, Americans are individualistic people who give a great priority to self-interest and so does the American dream. It appears that American dream is about maximize personal freedom and self-improvement.It is a belief that people can live a successful life through hard work in America.

Refer to collectivism, China is a typical case.China surely give a high score.China is a multi-ethnic country, which means the concept of "Home\Country" is really matters to people2. China dream can only be realized by the cohesion of people's strength and the awareness of united.People will gain happiness through a harmony society and country.

Thought there are differences between two cultures or dreams, we all share the same goal —— the peace of the life, society and most important , the peace of the world.
