They die—the dead return not—Misery
Sits near an open grave and calls them over，
A Youth with hoary hair and haggard eye—
They are the names of kindred，friend and lover，
Which he so feebly calls—they all are gone—
Fond wretch，all dead！those vacant names alone，
This most familiar scene，my pain—These tombs—alone remain.

苦難是那華發(fā)叢生滿眼憔悴的青年——

他坐在敞開(kāi)的墓穴的近旁呼喚著親人，朋友和至愛(ài)。

他有氣無(wú)力地痛訴——

他們都已離去—

我摯愛(ài)的可憐蟲(chóng)們，他們?nèi)甲吡?！只剩下至空至虛的名字?/b>

唯有我的痛苦——凄慘慘如此熟悉，

唯有這些墳冢孤單單——巋然如故。
