Mobiles have been considered advanced for their attractive functions. The youth of today send messages, surf on the internet, listen to music and even take photos by using their mobiles. Students are supposed to own their mobiles. However, education experts are worried whether mobiles distract students from their studies. In fact, mobile phones do distract study to a large extent.

First, some students are addicted to playing games on mobile phones and are oblivious to what’s happening right in front of them. Mobile phones are pulling their attention from their teachers’ lectures. Second, some students send text messages coursing through the ether to share an unexpected moment with their distant friends during class, which further detaches them from focusing on their studies. Third, they constantly scroll through the messages on their mobile phones preferring to be huddled in their virtual personaspheres online both during and after class.

Since the dawn of the internet and mobile telephony, students who use their mobile phones to surf the internet have grown in number and in complexity. It’s hard to draw them away from surfing the internet in class. Even after class, some students are so busy tending to the matter at hand on their mobile phones that they walk into a lamppost.

Therefore, mobiles do distract students from studies. Students need to be taught the proper use of mobile phones.
