To the Plum Blossom
By Zhang Daokao (Song Dynasty)
In old age I scarce cast eyes on plum blooms pale,
Yet when I see them, I gaze with care detail.
I am not like the plum—yet plum is like me,
Our romantic hearts, alike in purity.
Poem on Plum Blossoms
By Peng Yulin
When the year draws to a close and the sky grows cold, the wanderer's soul fades away,
My dreams linger around the Sixth Bridge by West Lake.
I am like the plum blossom, and the plum blossom is like me,
Sharing the same solitary eccentricity and listless melancholy.
