Dear toastmasters and guests, I am Betty, so glad to meet you. This is my ice break speech.?
First of all, let me ask you a question, have you ever been to an amusement park called Jinbao Leyuan in Wei Fang, Shandong Province? If the answer is yes, then you must have an unforgettable experience there. What I want to tell you is that the amusement park has the same name as me. My family name is Jin. My first name is Bao, given by my mom, which means I am a treasure to my family. And I didn’t own that amusement park. I paid a visit there last year, and I did buy a ticket. So upset.?
Apparently, there is no doubt that my nickname is Baobao. When I am in the crowd, I always hear someone calling my name. I turned my head and looked at them. But they were strangers and they didn't ask for me. That was so annoying. Every baby can be called Baobab. Perhaps most of you had the nickname when you were little, or have a boyfriend or girlfriend.
I chose the English name Betty for myself. Betty is a cartoon figure, who has a large round baby face with big eyes, and a nose like a button. Her appearance is childish but her characteristic is confident. Always bear in mind that you cannot judge a person by his or her appearance. As for my family name, I don't know quite much about my ancestors. The Chinese character Jin represents money and gold. I translate Jin as King, the weakest but the most important piece in chess. Although I have lots of shortcomings, I am unique and I make efforts to be better.
I am kind－h(huán)earted and I am full of sympathy for a cat or a dog that is ill. I am clever. I can understand when you are happy or angry. When you are happy, I may do something you like and talk with you. If you're happy with that, I will be quiet. I am competent. I am careful and tender.
Sometimes I am sentimental, I may cry when I get into trouble. I am not strong enough to lift a big stone above my head.
Now I am a junior student of Shandong University of Political Science and Law. I major is law. I love my major very much. I am really interested in this area and I have to say that this subject has really good prospect in the future. Law means fairness and justice. I want to be a lawyer and help my clients to defend their rights.
That’s pretty much about me, then I want to share with you my hometown. I was born in chuzhou, Anhui Province, where enjoys a pleasant climate with four seasons, ample sunshine and moderate rainfall. It is a medium-sized city, but it is very comfortable for people to live in since it has less pressure from both work and life. Meanwhile, the economy there develops at an extremely fast speed, therefore, the living standard there is comparatively high. My hometown is famous for a lake called Nvshan lake. The lake provides us with plenty of food, such as fish, crabs and shrimps. They are so delicious. Welcome you to visit my hometown. It's my treat.
