The name of the city is derived from the Osmanthus trees which are called "Gui hua shu" in Chinese. One can see the olive green leaved green Osmanthus trees standing at almost every roadside all over the city. When the autumn comes, the fragrance of the blossoming trees covered with their tiny yellow flowers wafts along on the gentle breezes through the city, filling the air with the most exquisite fragrance. The scent is like no other, all at once, refreshing, revitalizing sweet and uplifting relaxing and calming.
