MORAL: Those who help others often cannot help themselves.
幫助別人的方式不一定適用于自己。(救別人容易自救反而更難。)
MORAL: Don’t listen to flattery.
不要輕信恭維。
MORAL: We all like to criticize what we cannot have.
我們挑剔是因為我們得不到。(吃不到葡萄說葡萄酸)
MORAL: What we see every day, we no longer fear.
經(jīng)常見到的事物,我們就不再覺得可怕。(見怪不怪、司空見慣)
MORAL: Those who trik others will be tricked in their turn.
戲弄他人的手段說不定自己也會遭遇。(不是不報時候未到)
MORAL: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
聽起來過于美好的事都不太可能是真的。

MORAL: Don’t trust selfish(自私的)advice. 不要相信自私的人的建議。
MORAL: Vanity may lead to disaster. 自負容易導致毀滅。
MORAL: Those who say they can help others should first help themselves. 想要幫助他人之前應當獨善其身。
MORAL: Think ahead. 先思考(再行動)/三思而后行。
MORAL: Don’t be too quick to change your rulers. 不要急于易主。

The gods help those who help themselves.
盡其所能,順其自然。 (自助者天助)
We often imagine that others are thinking about us more than they really are.我們總是高估了自己在別人心中的重要程度。
Don't let your successes make you over-confident.不要因為小成就就過于自信。
Stick to what you do best.堅持你所擅長的。

MORAL:
Want too much and lose it all. 想要太多反而得不償失。
Accept and enjoy what you are.接受并喜歡自己。
We blame other's carelessness, but never notice our own.責怪別人的漠不關(guān)心時,往往忽視了自己其實可能也一樣。
Listeners never hear good of themselves. 從別人口中容易聽到自己的壞話。

MORAL:
Honesty is the best policy.
誠實才是最好的策略。(真誠是最好的套路)
The greater the need, the greater the effort.
追求越高付出越多。
Slow and steady wins the race.
不怕慢就怕站。
We are encouraged by seeing others who are worse off than ourselves.
我們總是從比自己更不幸的狀況中獲得鼓舞。

Moral:
What is valuable to one person may not be valuable to another.
一個人覺得有價值的東西不一定另一個人也贊同。
Be careful what you wish for.
小心希望得到的東西背后的危機。
Be consistent in your actions.
言行一致。
Laziness often prepares a weight for its own back.
偷懶躲過的那部分總是要補回來的。
Those whom you try to use, will use you in return.
你想要利用的也會反過來利用你。
It is easy for the coward to be a hero at a distance.
有的英雄只是你沒看到的膽小鬼。(膽小鬼用距離來偽裝成英雄。)

Flattery is a dangerous weapon in the hands of an enemy.
阿諛奉承可能撤成為敵人反攻的危險武器。
Some people are not even worth fighting with.
有些人根本不值得大動干戈。
Don’t bite off more than you can chew.
不要眼大肚小。
Today’s good deeds are the seeds of tomorrow’s blessings.
今日播下的善因總能收獲明日的善果。(心存善意定能途遇天使。)
The quarrels of friends are the opportunities of their enemies.
同盟爭執(zhí)之時就是敵人的時機。(鷸蚌相爭漁翁得利。)

MORAL:
If you no longer have a good reason for fighting, stop.
沒有意義的爭執(zhí)最好還是停下。
Quality matters more than quantity.
質(zhì)量重于數(shù)量。
Better scare a thief than actually catch him.
防賊好過抓賊。
Love can blind even the wildest.
誰都可能被愛情蒙蔽了雙眼。
You may share the work of the great, but you will not share the rewards.
共同取得的成就,不一定能共享成果。

If you must fight for something, make sure you keep your eyes on the prize.
如果一定要與別人爭執(zhí),請先考慮好代價。
Better to learn from the mistakes of others than from your own.
犯錯誤之前學會從別人的錯誤中學習。
There is always a better liar than you.
總有比你更會圓謊的人。
Don’t hurt those who try to help you.
別誤傷了想要幫助你的人。

Professionals will always do a better job of anything.
任何事情專業(yè)人士要更擅長。
We don’t see our own faults, but our neighbors do.
我們自己看不到的缺點旁人能看到。
Don’t try to please two people at once.
不要同時取悅兩個人。
Each of us is the hero of our own story.
我們總是自己故事里的英雄。
It is one thing to think of a good plan, and another to put it into practice.
想好計劃的需要同時付諸行動。
