Hey there! When you hear the word "wheelchair",what do you think of ?Does it always belong to people in need?Maybe. But guess what?In our PE class at Big Rapids Middle School, students get to use wheelchairs for some activities. It's not because all of us can't walk.Instead,we do this because it's a good way to play sport and try to understand others.

My classmate Chase Fullest has to use a wheelchair every day.But he doesn't let it slow him down and he loves to play wheelchair basketball.Because of this,Our PE teacher MS Douglass got the idea of bringing wheelchair sports into classes. Her goal is to make sure every student can join in sports activities in class. She encourages us to try new sports in a wheelchair. We have activities like wheelchair basketball and wheelchair volleyball. And my favorite one is wheelchair football. To play it well,I have to do a lot of practices in the wheelchair. This helps me understand what life is like for those in a wheelchair.Because of this ,I have a great respect for people with disabilities.

Wheelchair sports really make our PE class special and fun for everyone!
