II Material Analysis:

The topic of this unit is about birthday, which can help the students to gain a better understanding of birthday. The conversation, as the main content of this unit, briefly describes the discussion about birthday. Such a topic is closely related to the students’ daily study and it is easy to arouse the students’ interest of this class.

III Students Analysis:

The students have learned English for many years and they have a basic understanding of the English study. They can master some simple words and sentences in this unit. In addition, they have strong interest in this unit.

VIII Teaching Procedures(45 min):

Step 1 Warm-up&Lead-in:

T has a daily greetings with students and then T shows some pictures about birthday and then ask students when are their birthday.

?The aim is to arouse the Ss’ interest of this unit and catch their attention of this class.

Step 2 Listening:

Listen to the conversation and read the conversation together.Then answer question: What are they talking about?

The aim is to develop Ss’ ability of listening and speaking and language organizing.

Step 3 New words and expressions:

Ss find words and sentences they don’t know and explain the meaning and the part of speech pf these words. Then teacher explains them clearly.

The aim is to help Ss master some important words and sentences.

Step 4 Exercises:

Do some exercises of these words and sentences.

The aim is to help Ss consolidate these words better.

Step 5 Read and translate:

T leads to read the conversation and Ss read after the teacher. Then ask someone to translate it.

The aim is to develop Ss’ ability of speaking and translation.

Step 6 Role-play the conversation:

Find some partners read the conversation .

To develop Ss’ ability of speaking and cooperating with others.

Step 7 Exercises:

?Match the persons with their birthday.

To help Ss understand this conversation better.

Step 8 Summary:

To ask someone to summarizes what they have learned this class and T supplements and emphasizes the important and difficult points.

To help Ss consolidate the important and difficult points.

Step 9 Homework:

Ss write a short passage about their pets and their pets’ birthday. Then explain why you want to raise a pet.

To improve students’ writing ability and deepen impression of this lesson.
