
天 地 不 仁 , 以 萬(wàn) 物 為 芻 狗 ﹔
圣 人 不 仁 , 以 百 姓 為 芻 狗 。
The Heaven and Earth is not merciful as it treats all things like sacrificial straw-dogs. The sage is not merciful as he treats the people like sacrificial straw-dogs.
天 地 之 間 , 其 猶 橐 龠 乎 ?
Could the universe be shaped like a bellows?
虛 而 不 屈 , 動(dòng) 而 愈 出 。
Hollow as it is, the spirit within never dies out.
The more it is moving, the more it yields air supplies.
多 言 數(shù) 窮 , 不 如 守 中 。
Speech and words are meaningless. Rather, therefore, it is better to hold to the core.
