【Mind your P's and Q's.的意思是"小心謹(jǐn)慎。"，用于指某人的活動(dòng)尤其是社交場合的活動(dòng)。這個(gè)詞語已經(jīng)有好幾百年的歷史了，關(guān)于它的故事也很多。
其一是說這個(gè)成語跟酒店有關(guān)。當(dāng)時(shí)，在酒店里有兩種器具：品脫(pint)和夸脫(quart)，品脫小，夸脫大，一夸脫等于兩品脫。因此，酒店侍者必須要記清喝酒人到底用的是哪種器具。酒店老板也不斷告誡他們："注意你們的品脫和夸脫(Mind your pints and quarts.)。"后來，pints和quarts逐漸簡寫成"P's and Q's"了。
