Job Position:?Research Department Intern
An intern with the contract research department of Glades Crop Care is?ideally a person interested in learning the day-to-day operations?of an agricultural research farm.
While our contract research facility is not large in size it conducts a wide range of scientific trials.?
On any given day this person may work with fruiting vegetables, citrus, cucurbits, or many other types of crops.??
This person will be a quick learner who is ready to expand their knowledge about the processes, design, implementation, and maintenance of field trials.?
The intern/trainee will learn about planning, conducting, evaluating, and statistically analyzing field trials.?
He or she will participate in field preparation and planting of crops via seeds, transplants or trees throughout the year.?
They will be involved with study-mandated pesticide applications and maintenance applications.?
They will become familiar with the EPA guidelines and protocols required by the US Government to complete GLP residue field trials.?
They will also be involved in crop destruction at the end of trials as well as field and crop maintenance procedures to prepare the same land for future trials.?
The ideal candidate will have some farming experience or exposure and a desire to work outdoors.?
A knowledge of irrigation systems would also be appreciated.?
We would prefer individuals who have experience in some way with agricultural field trials either during their education or with a previous employer and/or placement.
