一、重點單詞

1. a tiny ray of hope

ray: a very small amount，a tiny ray of hope就是 “一線希望”，快記下來

2. go off

LEAVE 離開: to leave a place, especially in order to do something 離開，走:

John decided to go off on his own.
約翰決定自己一個人走。

• go off to（今日課文詞義）: to leave one place to another

He went off to work as usual.
他和往常一樣去上班。

2. comprehensive: a type of school in Britain

comprehensive本意大家都很熟悉，綜合的，全面的

3. stuff: 同義詞shove

PUSH 推, [always + adv / prep] to push or put something into a small space, especially in a quick careless way 填，塞;

一共兩個意思，一個是形容（嗓音）粗啞的、低沉的，另一個是形容粗暴的、脾氣壞的

8. twang: to make a quick sound （使）發(fā)出撥弦聲
