I know it would be odd for some people to hear that Merriam-Webster vocabulary builder is one of the most important books for me. When I was in high school students, I have read the translation edition of many prominent novels, like The Great Gatsby and To kill a mockingbird, in which I found the joy of reading. Apparently, even the translation is perfect to some extent, some details are lost. I was driven by curiosity and love to literature and have tried to read novels in English. Soon, I recognized that weak vocabulary is an obstacle I must overcome to enjoy reading an English novel. I studied Merriam-Webster vocabulary builder recommended by my English teacher. It helps me to build a strong vocabulary in a short time and begin to enjoy reading varies novels. I believe anyone who has read a great deal can imagine the world that opened! I agree with this claim because television is more convenient as well as cheaper to sit comfortably at home, with almost unlimited entertainment available, than to go out in search of amusement elsewhere. They do not have to pay for expensive seats at the theater, the cinema, o the opera, only to discover, perhaps, that the show is disappointing.All they have to do is press a button, and they can see plays, films, operas, and shows of every kind, not to mention political discussions and the latest exciting football match. Some people maintain that this is precisely where the danger lies. But I think we must realize that television in itself is neither good nor bad. Television program like Discovery, National Geography and PBS provides us only a channel access to knowledge in a vivid and convenient way. It is another option to make best use of our precious time. Anyway, it all depends on you.
