很早之前看過中文版的小說,再看英文版本,才發(fā)現(xiàn)作者為后期“悲劇”的發(fā)生埋下很多伏筆。比如,Hassan和Amir一起玩鏡子反射光到鄰居那兒,受到責(zé)備時,Amir從不告發(fā)Hassan。又比如第二節(jié)的最后一段,說到二人說的第一個詞,Amir說的是爸爸的名字,Hassan叫的則是Amir。Amir長期得不到父親的關(guān)注和陪伴,極少數(shù)的一次他坐在爸爸腿上,爸爸告訴他最大的惡就是“盜竊”,theft,而這一點則在后文中被Amir用來作為驅(qū)趕Hassan的工具。Amir偷聽到父親的話也預(yù)示著悲劇的發(fā)生,父親說”A boy who won’t stand up for himself becomes a man who can’t stand?up to anything”。

性格導(dǎo)致命運,而這一文章中幾人的性格也有鮮明的對比。父親是當?shù)貛缀踝罡挥械娜?,能辦到那些看似無法完成的事情,享有財富和威嚴,喜歡足球等激烈的運動,而Amir膽子小,喜歡看書,被人欺負不敢還手,(可以理解為懦弱嗎?)Hassan會保護Amir(這很重要),Ali臉部癱瘓,不能笑,還跛腳,但是教育起Hassan來也十分正經(jīng)。
