Today I also chose a book my kid had read before when he was a toddler. The book’s name is “Hide and seek Harry on the farm” written by Kenny Harrison.

This book’s pic and plot were very simple to let the early aged kids understand. Started from the cover, we can see a hippo hiding behind a sunflower, this pic was very funny and lovely. The first page went to “we’re at the farm with Harry today”, so obviously the hippo’s name was Harry, he was being with a boy and a girl. The 2nd page went to “and hide-and-seek is what he wants to play”, the 2 kids was covering their eyes, Harry was hiding behind the field of corn. The next page went to “Is he hiding by the pigs?”, obviously from our adults angle, Harry could easily be found, but when I causally read this book, I found the pic was so lovely, and the animals were drew very lovely which would make the kids very interested to read.

The next page went to “Or near the apple tree?”. Hippo’s image was so lovely, the kids would love to find Harry, but not very difficult for them to find him. The language on every page was directly connected with pic which was very simple to be understood. Like the next page “Maybe he’s behind the barn?” the kids could learn the barn’s name and know Harry was behind the barn, the word “behind” could also be easily understood by the kids here.

This book’s key factors was the lovely image of Harry, he was lovely, big, like playing hide and seek. But his body always left some part for the readers to find him, which were just the difficulty for the early aged kids. And also when I read this book, learn lots of words at the same time. This book also told us that human and animals could be good friends, this was quite important to plant a seed in the kid’s heart.
