hi~下午好，最近還挺忙的，剛剛陪完媽媽，昨晚傷心得默默掉淚哈哈。距離真的產(chǎn)生美，每一次和媽媽短暫的見(jiàn)面都令我十分不舍，但若回家呆五天以上就會(huì)開(kāi)始吵架~不知道大家和父母的相處模式是怎樣的.
Anyway, 今天我們就進(jìn)入第四節(jié)課，這篇文章雖然也有寫(xiě)故事橋段，但還是有一點(diǎn)雅思作文詞匯的意思~一起來(lái)看看
These days, people who do manual work often receive far more money than people who work in offices. People who work in offices are frequently referred to as "white-collar workers' for the simple reason that they usually wear a collar and tie to go to work. Such is human nature, that a great many people are often willing to sacrifice higher pay for the privilege of becoming white-collar workers. This can give rise to curious situations, as it did in the case of Alfred Bloggs who worked as a dustman for the Ellesmere Corporation.
1.首先我們先來(lái)講講manual work,white-collar workers~大家都知道白領(lǐng)、藍(lán)領(lǐng)、粉領(lǐng)，但他們具體的意味都清晰嗎~我今天也跟著學(xué)習(xí)一下。
white-collar：have jobs in offices, banks etc.比如我們前陣子講到的clerical work?
blue-collar：do physical work, rather than working in offices.這里的physical work其實(shí)就是manual work.體力勞動(dòng)。
pink-collar：low-paid jobs done mainly by women, for example in offices and restaurants
2.接下來(lái)來(lái)說(shuō)說(shuō)工資的那些事兒。其實(shí)第一句話非常像雅思大作文的首句或題目，因此我們可以衍生出一些同義替換。比如文中提到的receive far more money、?sacrifice?higher pay
pay作名詞表示“工資、薪水”，比如 get paid 領(lǐng)工資、payday 發(fā)薪日 、How was your pay?
salary也是薪水，一般是對(duì)于所謂white-collar的周/月/年結(jié)算的，比如 annual salary 年薪、good/low salary、raise salary 加薪.
wage一般是manual work的時(shí)/周/月薪，比如 hourly wage 時(shí)薪、minimum wage 最低時(shí)薪
income的范圍更廣，翻譯為“收入”更為準(zhǔn)確
除此之外還有 bonus 獎(jiǎng)金，比如annual bonus 年終獎(jiǎng)；commission 提成；benefits 福利（注意復(fù)數(shù)）；maternity leave 產(chǎn)假 ；welfare 福利（社會(huì)性的），也可以一連串記憶

4.case 是一個(gè)非常常見(jiàn)，但是在我學(xué)英語(yǔ)時(shí)期好像沒(méi)什么老師提及過(guò)的詞 ，我們常說(shuō)“我負(fù)責(zé)這個(gè)case”，這里指的就是“案例、個(gè)案、例子”，比如Tom’s career is a case in point?湯姆的事業(yè)就是個(gè)明證、There were 16 cases of damage to cars in the area.該地區(qū)有16起汽車受損事件；還有指“情況”的含義，比如In this case, several solutions could be tried.遇到這種情況，可以嘗試幾種解決辦法；in case 作為一個(gè)詞組有“假如”的意思，Take an umbrella, in case it rains.帶把傘吧，以防下雨。In case of fire, break the glass.如遇火險(xiǎn)，請(qǐng)擊碎玻璃。
口語(yǔ)里我們可能要表示“那這樣的話”，可以說(shuō) in that case 或者 if that's the case."無(wú)論如何"可以表達(dá)為 in any case
When he got married, Alf was too embarrassed to say anything to his wife about his job. He simply told her that he worked for the Corporation. 1.overall 這個(gè)詞相信備考雅思的朋友們也不會(huì)陌生，但是overalls 是工作服的意思哈哈，美式英語(yǔ)里也會(huì)叫?coveralls?
2.fellow adj.同學(xué)、同事；fellows n.同學(xué)、同事、同胞。*fellowship 獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金
