Today is Monday.

It soon became known in the town that a nine-year-old girl lived alone in Villa Villekulla. People didn't believe that and they thought a child always need a parent who could told the child what to do. They also thought a child should go to school to learn the multiplication tables. So they decided to find a family which she could live with. One afternoon Pippi had invited Tommy and Annika for afternoon coffee and pepparkakor. She had spread the party on the front steps. It was a sunny and beautiful day, and the air was filled with fragrance of flowers in Pippi's garden.? Mr. Nilsson climbed on the porch railing, and now and then the horse stuck his head out so that he would be invited to take a cooky. Pippi sat on the ground and streched out her legs as long as possible. Then two policemen walked into the garden. Pippi was very happy because she thought policemen are the best things she knew, next to rhubarb pudding. One policeman asked her if she was the little girl who lived in Villa Villekulla. She answered she wasn't and she was the tiny little auntie who lived on the third floor at the other end of the town.
