英國人講的是英語嗎？
同義句(Paraphrasing):
I wonder whether the English/the British people speak English.
It seems to me that the English/the British people don't speak English as I do.

同義句(Paraphrasing):
The travel took me much time before I finally reached London.
I finally got to London as it was a long way from my place to London.
句式解析：簡單句，謂語部分arrived in London。這里的arrive為不及物動詞，涉及關(guān)聯(lián)對象時，需要變成相應(yīng)的動詞短語arrive at(in)+ a place.同時注意英語“到達(dá)某地”，還可以用“get to/reach”,比如：We are leaving for New York tomorrow and can arrive at(arrive in/get to/reach)New York the day after tomorrow.
The railway station was big, black and dark.
火車站很大，又黑又暗。
句式解析：簡單句，也是主系表結(jié)構(gòu)（主語+be+ 形容詞短語）。
e.g. The computer is small, yellow and easily operable.
同義句(Paraphrasing):
The railway station was big, black and dark.
The railway station was very large but it was black and dark as well.
I did not know the way to my hotel, so I asked a porter.
我不知道去飯店的路該怎么走，于是向一個搬運工打聽。
句式解析：由并列連詞so連接兩個簡單句構(gòu)成并列句，這里請注意so 和because（從屬副詞，連接或引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句）表示因果關(guān)系句式的不同，比如：
(1）English is hard to learn, so we have to spend more time.
(2)Because English is hard to learn, we have to spend more time.
另外：the way to place:到某地的路
e.g. I am a stranger here. Please show me the way to the post office.
e.g. We must try hard to find the way to the top of the mountain.
同義句(Paraphrasing):
I did not know how to get back to my hotel, so I turned to a porter for help.
I got lost and was at a loss as to how to get back to my hotel and I had to asked a portor for help.
I not only spoke English very carefully, but very clearly as well.
我的英語講得不但非常認(rèn)真，而且咬字也非常清楚。
句式解析：not only...but also 引導(dǎo)的并列句：
The porter, however, could not understand me.
然而搬運工卻不明白我的話。
同義句(Paraphrasing):
However,the porter could not understand me.
Yet/But,he didn't know what I was saying.
I repeated my question several times and at last he understood.
我把問話重復(fù)了很多遍。他終于聽懂了。

he answered me, but he spoke neither slowly nor clearly.
他回答了，但他講得既不慢也不清楚。

'I am a foreigner,' I said.

I told me I was a stranger from a different country.
Then he spoke slowly, but I could not understand him.

My teacher never spoke English like that!

My English teacher didn't speak English the way the porter did.
My English teacher didn't teach me the English used by the porter.
My English teacher didn't speak English that way at all.
The porter and I looked at each other and smiled.

同義句(Paraphrasing):
We smiled at each other without saying anything.
The porter looked at each other with a smile, so did I.
Then he said something and I understood it.
接著，他說了點什么，這回我聽懂了。
同義句(Paraphrasing):
Then I could know what he said.
'You'll soon learn English!' he said.
“ 您會很快學(xué)會英語的！”他說。
I wonder. In England, each person speaks a different language.
我感到奇怪。在英國，人們各自說著一種不同的語言。

I am surprised that each person here in England talks to others in a? different language.
It seems to me the British people speak the different English.
The English understand each other, but I don't understand them!
