Chapter 6
“I chose to have you because I wanted something to love and something that would love me unconditionally.”Trevor
Every child is born the center of his own universe.
My relationship with my mom was like the relationship between a cop and a criminal in the movie-the relentless detective and devious mastermind she’s determined to catch.(好句)
It’s better to take it, spend some time crying, then wake up the next day and move on. You’ll have a few bruises and they’ll remind you of what happened and that’s okay.
Chapter 7 Fufi
Fufi is Trevor’s first dog. The experience with Fufi shapes what he’ve felt about relationships for the rest of his life: You do not own the thing that you love.
Chapter 8 Robert
My mom was wild and impulsive. My father was reserved and rational. She was fire, he was ice. They were opposites that attracted, and I am a mix of them both.(好句:Trevor爸媽的性格冰與火)
好句:My father was pushing seventy by that point.
We spend so much time being afraid of failure, afraid of rejection. But regret is the thing we should fear most. Failure is an answer. Rejection is an answer. Regret is an eternal question you will never have the answer to. “What if…” “If only…” “I wonder what would have…” You will never, never know, and it will haunt you for the rest of your days.——chapter 11
The first thing I learned about having money was that it gives you choices. People don’t want to be rich. They want to be able to choose. The richer you are, the more choices you have. That is the freedom of money.——chapter 15
People love to say, “Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he’ll eat for a lifetime.”——chapter 15
My whole life, telling me stories about growing up in the homelands, being abandoned by her parents, she had always said, “You cannot blame anyone else for what you do. You cannot blame your past for who you are. You are responsible for you. You make your own choices.”——chapter 18
