9月2日，英國(guó)泰晤士高等教育（THE）公布了2021年度世界大學(xué)排行榜，中國(guó)大學(xué)的排名獲得歷史性提升。
其中，清華大學(xué)較去年上升3位，和美國(guó)杜克大學(xué)并列第20位，成為2011年后第一個(gè)進(jìn)入排名前20的亞洲大學(xué)。
Tsinghua University has become the first-ever Asian university to enter the top 20 of the Times Higher Education's World University Rankings, after recording joint 20th place in the latest edition, published on Wednesday.
In the 2021 rankings, Tsinghua University moved up 3 places from last year's position, with a record 1,527 institutions qualifying this time round.
今年共有來(lái)自93個(gè)國(guó)家和地區(qū)的1527所高校入圍榜單，中國(guó)大陸共有91所大學(xué)進(jìn)入榜單。
除清華大學(xué)外，北京大學(xué)（第23位）、復(fù)旦大學(xué)（并列第70位）、浙江大學(xué)（并列第94位）和上海交通大學(xué)（第100位）的排名均較去年有所提升。
It was a good day all round for institutions on the Chinese mainland, with a record number placed in the top 100.
In addition to Tsinghua, other Chinese institutions performing well included Peking University (23rd), Fudan University (joint 70th), Zhejiang University?(joint 94th), and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (100th), all of which have improved their positions since last year.
中國(guó)大陸進(jìn)入前100位的高校數(shù)量（6所）打破紀(jì)錄，比去年的3所增加了一倍。中國(guó)大陸高校進(jìn)一步躋身世界最頂尖大學(xué)行列。
This has resulted in a record number of six Chinese mainland universities being in the top 100 for the first time since the rankings began in 2011, doubling China's representation since last year.

英國(guó)的牛津大學(xué)連續(xù)5年蟬聯(lián)該排行榜首位，美國(guó)的斯坦福大學(xué)和哈佛大學(xué)分居二、三位。
The University of Oxford, in the United Kingdom, retained top spot for the fifth consecutive year.
中國(guó)香港地區(qū)有6所大學(xué)上榜，其中3所進(jìn)入了前100名；中國(guó)澳門(mén)地區(qū)有兩所大學(xué)上榜；中國(guó)臺(tái)灣地區(qū)有38所大學(xué)進(jìn)入榜單。
評(píng)論：中國(guó)挑戰(zhàn)西方大學(xué)優(yōu)勢(shì)地位
泰晤士高等教育首席知識(shí)官菲爾·巴蒂（Phil Baty）評(píng)論稱(chēng)，此次中國(guó)挑戰(zhàn)了西方大學(xué)占據(jù)排名頂端的傳統(tǒng)優(yōu)勢(shì)地位。
"We have observed the rise of Asian universities in the world rankings for several years now,?but this year marks a major milestone, as Chinese mainland disrupts the traditional domination of Western universities at the top of the table, breaking into the top 20 for the first time, and doubling its representation in the top 100."
我們已經(jīng)連續(xù)多年觀(guān)察到亞洲大學(xué)在世界大學(xué)排名中的上升，但今年是一個(gè)重要的里程碑，因?yàn)橹袊?guó)大陸挑戰(zhàn)了西方大學(xué)在排名頂端的傳統(tǒng)優(yōu)勢(shì)地位，首次有高校進(jìn)入了前20名，其在前100位中的院校數(shù)量也增加了一倍。

"This positive movement for Chinese mainland universities looks as though it will continue, particularly as we navigate the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic. With a likely decrease in the international flow of students and staff around the world, and possible funding challenges among the West's established higher education sectors, we could see China, and Asia more widely,?capitalise," he continued.
