This line chart shows the number of millimeters of sea level rise between 1997 and 2005. Overall, sea levels rose from 1997 to 2005. The upward trend from 1997 to 1999 was very flat, rising only within two millimeters. From 1999 to 2000, there was a trend of rapid increase. Between 1999 and 2002, the trend continued to rise sharply. The upward trend leveled off from 2002 to 2004. The upward trend in 2003-2004 was stronger than in 2002-2003.
