Last night both Melon and me didn’t a sound sleep. When we stepped on the metro, we’re just a little bit dizzy, I think maybe he didn’t have energy to read the books. After one station, we got a seat to sit down, he said he wanted to read the books which I didn’t think of. Today I brought 4 books which included “my mom”、”my dad”、”big red barn”、”where is the green sheep”. He chose a new book “my dad”.
As soon as he saw the cover, he liked the man doing the tricking funny face, and he liked imitating his action. I began the book with the title “my dad”. When I turned the pages, I read the words, he didn’t seem to be very interested, so I just tried to be more activated according to what the pic said. When I repeated the sentences like “he can jump right over the moon and walk on a tightrope” and “he can wrestle with giants”, he seems didn’t understand the meaning at, but just look at the pics. I thought that was acceptable, he needed time. The whole book almost told us that dad could do anything if he want. And the most important basis is I love my dad and my dad loves me. That’s where the power comes from. Soon after that, Melon said he didn’t want to read this book, he wanted to read “my mom” and read it fast for 3 times.
And after that he still wanted to review the “big red barn”, he was attracted by the lovely animals as usual. When he read the pages, he often stayed on one page for a few seconds or even more. He liked to see the animals doing different kinds of things and count the eggs. During reading the book, I tried to ask him some questions like I was a kid.
Today I found that kids need time to understand a new book, he could start from looking at the pic.
