The tame bird was in a cage, the free bird was in the forest.
They met when the time came, it was a decree of fate.
馴養(yǎng)的鳥兒在籠中,自由的鳥兒在林中。
它們相遇之時(shí)終于來(lái)臨,那是命運(yùn)的安排。
The free bird cries, "O my love, let us fly to wood."
The cage bird whispers, "Come hither, let us both live in the cage."
自由之鳥叫道:“我的愛人啊,讓我們飛往森林?!?/p>
籠中之鳥低聲說(shuō):“來(lái)這兒吧,讓我們住在籠子里?!?/p>
Says the free bird, "Among bars, where is there room to spread one's wings?"
"Alas," cries the cage bird, "I should not know where to sit perched in the sky."
自由之鳥說(shuō):“欄桿之間,哪里有展翅的余地?”
“唉,”籠中之鳥叫道:“我不知道天空中哪里可以坐下來(lái)休息。”
The free bird cries, "My darling, sing the songs of the woodlands."
The cage bird says, "Sit by my side, I'll teach you the speech of the learned."
自由之鳥叫道:“親愛的,唱樹林之歌吧?!?/p>
籠中之鳥說(shuō):“坐在我身邊,我來(lái)教你博學(xué)者的語(yǔ)言?!?/p>
The forest bird cries, "No, ah no! Songs can never be taught."
The cage bird says, "Alas for me, I know not the songs of the woodlands."
林中之鳥叫道:“不,啊,不!歌是無(wú)法教授的?!?/p>
籠中之鳥說(shuō):“唉,可是我不會(huì)唱樹林之歌?!?/p>
Their love is intense with longing, but they never can fly wing to wing.
Through the bars of cage they look, and vain is their wish to know each other.
They flutter their wings in yearning, and sing, "Come closer, my love!"
它們的愛因渴望而熱烈,但它們永遠(yuǎn)不能比翼雙飛。
它們隔籠相望,但它們相知的愿望落空了。

The free bird cries, "It cannot be, I fear the closed doors of the cage."
The cage bird whispers, "Alas, my wings are powerless and dead."
自由之鳥叫道:“不行,我害怕籠子這緊閉的門?!?/p>
籠中之鳥低聲說(shuō):“唉,我的翅膀柔弱無(wú)力,已經(jīng)死了。”
