Do you think it's better to have a lot of friends or a few of loyal friends?

For me, I'd like to have a few of loyal friends instead of a lot of friends. The reason I choose to have a few of loyal friends is that I prefer to trust people when I'm with them. Everybody has to feel safe, relaxed, respected and trusted while we are socializing. And to me, these feelings are the most important things when people are together. Nobody will be happy when they feel nervous, unrespected, distanced or betrayed.

But it's hard to find a loyal friend. There is a story which is about a man had one bosom friend, whom was the only person that could understand his music. They got on like a house on fire. Unfortunately, a few years after, his friend died. He was exceedingly sad that he broke his instrument qin, and never played songs since then, even though his music was liked by many people.

The story is a little bit too much but it's true, if someone could find a friend like that, they must be particularly lucky!
