三月瘋狂的一天

像一只老獵犬被擊打
在爐子邊上哽咽,
我讓痛苦更加復(fù)雜
有指望的愛(ài)的巨大刺痛。
煤油爐傾覆了，雨，
天氣預(yù)報(bào)，吞卷我的傷口；
結(jié)冰了，凍煞了嫩綠芽，
又侵襲鷦鷯的鳥(niǎo)屋悄無(wú)聲息。

但愿平民和國(guó)王,
無(wú)力生育的新娘與修女
嫉妒季節(jié)應(yīng)有的更替。
但愿小孩子咒罵太陽(yáng),
野薔薇和青草拒絕
去違背春天,
而且播種的人和種子
俱在夏天的雜草上窒息。

我們聽(tīng)到的那些諾言,
我們腦海中響起的無(wú)知聲音；
我們命名并編了號(hào)的日子,
在我們的天真無(wú)辜中
設(shè)定野獸已被馴服。
光禿禿的樹(shù)干上, 一只鳥(niǎo),
孤零零地棲落, 翅膀
凍住了,在艱難地歌唱。

【詩(shī)人簡(jiǎn)介】 菲利普·萊文(Philip Levine，1928-2015)，出生于底特律一個(gè)俄國(guó)猶太移民家庭，早年在底特律的汽車(chē)廠做工，畢業(yè)于底特律韋恩大學(xué)。2011年接替W·S·默溫成為美國(guó)第十八任桂冠詩(shī)人，曾出版過(guò)22本詩(shī)集及一些譯著。他曾獲普利策獎(jiǎng)、國(guó)家圖書(shū)獎(jiǎng)等眾多獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)，2000年至2006年曾任美國(guó)詩(shī)歌學(xué)院校董。1957年在愛(ài)荷華城市大學(xué)講授寫(xiě)作課，1958年在加州大學(xué)弗雷斯諾分校英文系任教。之后分別在加州大學(xué)、紐約大學(xué)執(zhí)教。

Mad Day In March

Beaten like an old hound
Whimpering by the stove,
I complicate the pain
That smarts with promised love.
The oilstove falls, the rain,
Forecast, licks at my wound;
Ice forms, clips the green shoot,
And strikes the wren house mute.

May commoner and king,
The barren bride and nun
Begrudge the season's dues.
May children curse the sun,
Sweet briar and grass refuse
To compromise the spring,
And both sower and seed
Choke on the summer's weed.

Those promises we heard
We heard in ignorance;
The numbered days we named,
And, in our innocence,
Assumed the beast was tamed.
On a bare limb, a bird,
Alone, arrived, with wings
Frozen, holds on and sings.
