My Brilliant Friend 全書(shū)分為兩個(gè)部分，童年和青春期，以第一人稱“我”Elena Greco的視角講述了兩個(gè)女孩，Elena和Lila，在這兩個(gè)階段友誼的發(fā)展。雖然出生在意大利那不勒斯貧民區(qū)，但她們從小就洞察世事，天賦異稟，她們不甘平凡，一起讀書(shū)、一起玩耍、一起出逃、一起反叛現(xiàn)有的生活。于是她們成了彼此的影子，將女孩子之間交往時(shí)的細(xì)膩心思展現(xiàn)的淋漓盡致，猜忌、攀比、嫉妒、怨恨而后反悔、關(guān)心、鼓勵(lì)、依靠。然而，由童年向青春期過(guò)度階段，她們倆就好像一同站在Robert Frost筆下分岔的兩條小徑前，在黃色的樹(shù)林里，她們選擇了兩條不同的路，從此開(kāi)始了兩段截然不同的人生。
