詞：loom

英英釋義：if something unpleasant or difficult looms, it seems likely to happen soon

2. 體會(huì)這個(gè)詞 （進(jìn)階篇）

“l(fā)oom” 本身是“以龐然大物的形狀出現(xiàn)在前面”的意思，不過它還有內(nèi)涵意義，表示“出現(xiàn)在人們心目中，既重大又令人驚恐不安”。我們想表示“迫在眉睫”、“一觸即發(fā)”時(shí)，就可以想到用 loom 來表示，這時(shí)候主語一般都是一些有負(fù)向意義的詞，比如 “crisis” “problem” “threat” “danger”等。
