It’s August 18, 2025 today, and time flies so fast. What are you up to?
Since the middle of this year, I’ve returned to the workplace and joined CBRE, with a starting annual salary of 330,000 yuan. Let me do the math—though it’s much less than what I earned when I ran my own business in Shanghai, I feel way more relaxed now, as I’m doing work that I’m best at. I’d say I’m handling it with ease.
The new workplace environment, new colleagues, clients, and suppliers—everything feels so fresh. Everyone is warm, yet there’s a natural unfamiliarity; we treat each other with respect and courtesy.
No one pries into your past, and no one will easily offend others. It’s really great.

The work rhythm at a foreign company suits me well, except that I’ve lost the freedom I used to have. I’ll just take it one step at a time for now. Life in Guangdong is quite fun—motorcycles aren’t restricted here, so I bought my first motorcycle ever. Feeling the wind on my face and enjoying the freedom, it’s an incredibly comforting experience. I go for rides every weekend, and work a 9-to-5 schedule; I can handle all work issues with ease.

The only downside is that my job requires using English, and that’s precisely my weak spot… How awkward. Keep going, buddy.
