Lesson 25 Do the English speak English?

I arrived in London at last. The railway station was big, black and dark. I did not know the way to my hotel, so I asked a porter. I not only spoke English very carefully,

but very clearly as well. The porter, however, could not understand me; I repeated my question several times and at last he understood. He answered me, but he spoke neither slowly nor clearly. 'I am a foreigner,' I said. Then he spoke slowly, but I could not understand him. My teacher never spoke English like that! The porter and I looked at each other and smiled. Then he said something and I understood it. 'You'll soon learn English!' he said. I wonder. In England, each person speaks a different language. The English understand each other, but I don't understand them! Do they speak English?

今天聽到群里很多人都有習(xí)慣在單詞里頭加r,于是就復(fù)習(xí)了L跟R兩個音標(biāo)。

/r/無擦通音

發(fā)音要領(lǐng):

軟腭上升,封住鼻腔。舍身后縮,舌尖抬高,接近而不是接觸上齒齦后部,舌的后邊緣接觸上臼齒。舌尖微卷,舌中部下陷。氣流通過舌中心部分逸出,不產(chǎn)生摩擦。

/r/音位有三種主要變體:常體即齒齦后部無擦通音,濁擦音和清音化的擦音/r/。

常體/r/詞首或音節(jié)首:read, road, arrive, variety或濁輔音(/d/除外)后面:bright, great, embrace, agree, 或作連接音a matter of fact, far way

濁擦音/r/,用于/d/后,如dry, dream, laundry.

清音化后的擦音/r/,用于重讀的/p, t, k/后面: pride, tree, crowd, attract, increase



舌邊音/l/

發(fā)音要領(lǐng):

發(fā)/l/音時,軟腭上升,封住鼻腔;舌尖與上齒齦發(fā)生接觸,在口腔前方阻擋氣流,只能讓氣流沿舌側(cè)逸出,所以稱/l/為舌邊輔音。發(fā)/l/音時,聲帶顫動。/l/又稱舌邊無擦通音。

/l/音位有三種主要變體:清晰/l/,含糊/l/和清音化/l/

發(fā)清晰/l/時,舌前部要向硬腭抬起,音色接近前元音。這個變體出現(xiàn)在元音或者硬腭無通擦音/j/前:lie, let, aloud, asleep, selection, failure, million, William

發(fā)含糊/l/時,舌后部向軟腭抬起,使舌身呈凹形,音色類似于后元音。這個變體用于除/j/以外的輔音前或詞尾。

filled, told, milk, health, always

fill, tell, pool, loyal, cruel

清音化的/l/出現(xiàn)在/p, k/后。為了與/p,k/的聲帶狀態(tài)保持一致而部分停止聲帶顫動,成為清音化的/l/

練習(xí)感悟:

1. but I could not understand him.這句話聽完之后覺得很簡單,結(jié)果自己念,怎么都不能做到百分百像。

2.說了要把carefully跟clearly那種小心翼翼的生怕別人聽不懂的感覺念出來,結(jié)果太刻意了,附近的單詞反而受了影響,音調(diào)念得怪怪的;

3.怎么讀都是差2s,為什么?最近都沒有計算練習(xí)時長,所以不知道為了這兩秒又讀了多少遍,但是聲音變得不好聽了,就沒有繼續(xù)糾結(jié)了。用喉嚨發(fā)聲的毛病不好改掉,還是得多含水練習(xí)發(fā)聲。
