Part 2:

Describe an advertisement you have seen that made you want to buy something.

You should say:

Where you saw it

What it was about

Why this advertisement made you want to buy something

An advertisement that had an impact on me was for Adidas couple of years ago during the Beijing Olympics. In fact, it wasnot just one ad, but a set of posters put up in the Beijing subway, and also in some magazines. The posters show Chinese Olympic sports stars dunking basketball, or standing on the diving board. They are shown in red and yellow, the color for china.

The really special part of these ads is the background. The ground and the basketball hoop, even the diving board, they are all made up by a sea of people. The genius of these ads is that it shows China’spopulation as a positive thing supporting our Olympic team. This ad makes me feel proud to be Chinese. This is maybe why Adidas is still more popular than Nike in China。

Part 3:

1. Do you think that price or quality is more important when buying something?

I think that quality is of greater importance than price when it comes to purchasing items. For example, if you buy a good quality refrigerator, it might last more than ten years. On the other hand, if you buy poor quality refrigerators, they might only last three or four years. In the long run, poor quality refrigerators usually work out more expensive. The problem is that most people only think in the short term, and don’t think too much about quality.

2. How do you think the government can encourage people to share vehicles?

The government can open up special lanes atthe side of the road for family cars that are carrying four or more passengers. They are already trying this out in South Korea. If there is only one person inthe car and they drive in the family lane, the camera will snap their license plate and give them a fine. This is a great method, because if one hundred people decide to share their cars with their friends or colleagues, they can potentially take two hundred to three hundred other cars off the road.

說到國外的消費,有同學(xué)會說比中國貴很多,有同學(xué)又覺得很便宜。我們以美國為例來看看西方過的消費大體到底是什么樣的

Westerns respect Intellectual Property Rights, so commodities like CDs, DVDs and books can be expensive. Also, since labor in Western countries is relatively expensive, getting a haircut, going to a nail salon or hiring a housekeeper can be expensive as well.

Food, such as meat, rice, bread, fruits and vegetables are roughly the same price or maybe just a little bit more expensive than in China. Dairy products are more plentiful, safer and significantly cheaper in the US. Luxury cars like Mercedes Benz or designer bags like Gucci are much cheaper in the US than China.

Housing price are also about half the pricein the US. Homes are stand alone structures with a yard, garden, garage andsometimes even a swimming pool. Large city housing prices like in New York Cityare the same as ones in Beijing.
