跟讀內(nèi)容：今天跟讀的是C11 Test3 Par2的第33句到第45句

跟讀心得日記：

1、It's become more and more shabby-looking, and because of fears about safety, it was threatened with demolition.（C11 Test3 Par2第37句）

Shabby本身就帶有破舊的，破爛的意思，shabby-looking則表示看起來破破爛爛，看起來衣衫襤褸的樣子

demolition是demolish的名詞形式，但是要注意e發(fā)音發(fā)生了變化，前面發(fā)e的音，后面發(fā)i的音。

另外還有一個(gè)很有意思的地方就是，be threatened with sth，并非都是不好的狀況，既可以表示威脅，也可以表示存在什么風(fēng)險(xiǎn)，都可以用這個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu)來表達(dá)，比如這兩句話中，表示“面臨被拆除的風(fēng)險(xiǎn)”

2、The council has managed to secure funding to keep the library open later into the evening, twice a week (Q19).（C11 Test3 Par2第40句）

以前我只知道secure表示保護(hù)，保安等意思，今天跟讀這句發(fā)現(xiàn)secure還有通過努力獲取或獲得什么東西的意思，所以secure funding 表示“獲取資金”。

3、We would like to enlarge the building in the not-too-distant future, but this is by no means definite.（C11 Test3 Par2第41句）

enlarge與expand都有擴(kuò)展，增大的意思，但是

enlarge?強(qiáng)調(diào)物理尺寸（如建筑以及某物體的面積、體積）的增大，而?expand?側(cè)重范圍、規(guī)?；騼?nèi)容的擴(kuò)展（可具體或抽象，比如知識(shí)、業(yè)務(wù)、領(lǐng)土的擴(kuò)展）。

4、Instead, it will become the responsibility of a national body that administers most nature reserves in the country (Q20).（C11 Test3 Par2第44句）

以前涉及到管理，我基本只知道m(xù)anager，以及administrate，但跟讀這句，發(fā)現(xiàn)還有個(gè)administer也是類似的意思，查了一下字典，發(fā)現(xiàn)administer與administrate兩個(gè)單詞拼寫類似，但使用場景還是有所區(qū)別：

“administrate”更偏向于整體管理和監(jiān)督，而“administer”則更側(cè)重于具體的執(zhí)行和服務(wù)提供。然而，這兩個(gè)詞在很多情況下可以互換使用，特別是在非正式語境中。
