一、現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(is/am/are doing)
1.表示現(xiàn)在或現(xiàn)階段正在進(jìn)行的動作。如：
It is raining hard. 雨正下得大。
I am learning English this summer. 這個夏天，我在學(xué)英語。
2.用于極少數(shù)非延續(xù)性動詞，表示動作的不斷重復(fù)。
Someone is knocking at the door. 有人在敲門。
3.與always、often、frequently、forever等表“經(jīng)常”含義的詞連用，表示驚訝、感嘆、贊美、厭煩、厭惡等情緒。如：
He is forever forgetting things. 他老是忘事。
He is always fighting others. 他總是和別人打架。
He is so kind that he is always thinking of how to help others. 他如此善良以致于他總在思考如何幫助別人。
4.表示婉轉(zhuǎn)語氣。這一用法限于hope、want、wonder等動詞。
I am wondering if you have any suggestion. 不知你可否提出一些建議?
5.表示決心和堅決的態(tài)度。
I am not living in this hotel again. 我再也不住這家旅館了。
6.表示將來
(1)在狀語從句中，表示將來正在進(jìn)行的動作。如：
When you are passing the bank again, you will remind you have ever lost a huge sum of money here. 當(dāng)你再次經(jīng)過這家銀行，你會想起曾經(jīng)在這里丟失了一筆巨款。
(2)表示按計劃將要發(fā)生的動作。在現(xiàn)代英語語法中，除了常見的come、go、leave、start、begin、stop等詞，很多動作動詞也都可以用現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時表將來計劃發(fā)生的動作。如：
I am chatting with my three students this evening. 今晚我要和三個學(xué)生聊天。
二、過去進(jìn)行時(was/were doing)
1.表示過去正在進(jìn)行的動作。如：
I was writing a letter when you phoned. 你打電話時我正在寫信。
2.用于極少數(shù)非延續(xù)性動詞，表示動作的不斷重復(fù)。如：
Someone was knocking at the door last night. 昨晚有人在不停地敲門。
3.與always、often、frequently、forever等表經(jīng)常含義的詞連用，表示對過去事物的驚訝、感嘆、贊美、厭煩、厭惡等情緒。如：
He was always fighting others. 過去他總是和別人打架。
4.表示婉轉(zhuǎn)語氣。這一用法限于hope、want、wonder等動詞。如：
I was wondering if you had any suggestion. 不知你可否提出一些建議?
過去進(jìn)行時的這一用法，實際是在表示現(xiàn)在時間。過去進(jìn)行時表示這種婉轉(zhuǎn)語氣，比用現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時更加婉轉(zhuǎn)。
5.表示將來
(1)在狀語從句中，表示過去將來正在進(jìn)行的動作。如：
If he was sleeping, I would wake him up. 如果他在打瞌睡，我會叫醒他。
(2)表示按計劃過去將要發(fā)生的動作。如：
They were leaving abroad three days later. 他們?nèi)熘髸鰢?/p>
三、將來進(jìn)行時(will/shall be doing)
1.表示將來正在進(jìn)行的動作。如：
I will be learning English this evening. 今天晚上我將在學(xué)英語。
2.表示婉轉(zhuǎn)語氣，表達(dá)有禮貌的詢問或請求。如：
Will you be lending me your books? 可否把你的書借給我?
四、過去將來進(jìn)行時(would/should be doing)
過去將來進(jìn)行時表示：立足于過去，將來正在進(jìn)行的動作。如：
Yesterday he told me that he would be reading books at six the next morning. 昨天他告訴我，第二天早上六點他將在看書。
