荷西：Echo，你等我六年，我有四年大學(xué)要念，還有兩年兵役要服，六年一過，我就娶你。
Jose: Echo, wait for me six years. I have a four-year university to attend and a two-year army to serve in. After in I will marry you.
荷西：我的愿望是擁有一棟小小的公寓。我外出賺錢，Echo在家煮飯給我吃，這是我人生最快樂的事。
Jose: My wish is to own a little flat which Echo stay and cook meals for me while I go out to make money. This is the furthest happiness of my life.
三毛：我們都還年輕，你也才高三，怎么就想結(jié)婚了呢？
荷西：我是碰到你之后才想結(jié)婚。
Echo: We are both young and you are still in twelfth grade. Why you wonder marriage?
Jose: I wonder marriage after I met you.
荷西：你是不是一定要嫁個(gè)有錢人。
三毛：如果我不愛他，他是百萬富翁我也不嫁，如果我愛他，他是千萬富翁我也嫁。
荷西：。。。說來說去你還是要嫁有錢人。
三毛：也有例外的時(shí)候
荷西：如果跟我呢
三毛：那只要吃得飽的錢也算了
荷西思索了一下：你吃得多嗎？
三毛十分小心的回答：不多，不多，以后還可以少吃點(diǎn)。
Jose: Whether you must marry a rich man?
Echo: I won’t marry a millionaire if I didn’t love him. Otherwise, I will marry a multimillionaire if I love him.
Jose: … When all is said, the fact remains that marrying a rich man.
Echo: There are exceptions.
Jose: If with me?

荷西：我想得很清楚，要留你在我身邊，只有跟你結(jié)婚，要不然我的心永遠(yuǎn)不能減去這份痛楚的感覺，
我們 夏天結(jié)婚好嗎？
就這句話，三毛看了十遍，然后去散了個(gè)步，回來就決定嫁給大胡子荷西。
Jose: I think clearly that only marry you can make you stay with me. Otherwise my heart will pain forever. We are getting married in the summer, ok?

Echo hits Jose.

Echo sees Jose: I really think so.
Since next lives cannot be together, cherish these ones!
三毛：即使是岸上的機(jī)器壞了一個(gè)螺絲釘，只修兩小時(shí)，荷西也不肯在工地等，不怕麻煩的脫掉潛水衣就往家里跑，家里的妻子不在，他便大街小巷地去找，一家一家店鋪問過去：看見Echo了沒有？看見Echo了沒有？
Echo: Although one screw was broken of machine on shore and it only need two hours to repair, Jose refuse to wait at construction plant. He will turn off his diving suit and run home, not be afraid of trouble. If his wife was not at home, he will find her in high streets and back lanes and ask the shops one by one, “have you ever seen Echo?” “Have you ever seen Echo?”
三毛：如果我死了，你一定要答應(yīng)我，重新娶個(gè)女人。
荷西：你神經(jīng)，不和你說話！
三毛：神經(jīng)也要說，你不娶，我死了也不會(huì)安心的。
荷西：要是你死了我一把火把家燒掉，然后上船漂到老死。
三毛：放火燒房子也好，只要你肯再娶。
Echo: If I died, you must make a promise that marries another woman!
Jose: You are simply not in you right mind. I don’t talk to you now!
Echo: I must say! If you don’t marry, I will die without peace!
Jose: If you died, I will burn the house and drift on a boat until aging and death.
Echo: It’s OK. So long as you could marry another woman!
荷西：要到你很老我也很老，兩個(gè)人都走不動(dòng)也扶不動(dòng)了，穿上干干凈凈的衣服，一齊躺在床上，閉上眼睛說：好吧！一齊去吧！
Jose: When we are both too aged to walk and support each other with hands, we will wear neat and tidy clothes, overlie a bed together, and close our eyes and say, “well! Go together!”
荷西：快許十二個(gè)愿望，心里跟著鐘聲說。
三毛：但愿人長(zhǎng)久，但愿人長(zhǎng)久，但愿人長(zhǎng)久，但愿人長(zhǎng)久——
Jose: Make twelve promises! Follow the ring!
Echo: Hopes love forever! Hopes love forever! Hopes love forever! Hopes love forever!...
三毛：荷西在婚后的第六年離開了這個(gè)世界，走得突然，我們來不及告別。這樣也好，因?yàn)槲覀冇肋h(yuǎn)不告別。
Echo: Jose suddenly passed away six year after marriage and it’s too late to say goodbye to him. So all right, we will never say goodbye.
三毛：一年多前，有份刊物囑我寫稿，題目已經(jīng)指定了出來：如果你只有三個(gè)月的壽命，你將會(huì)去做些什事？
荷西聽說了這件事情，也曾好奇的問過我，“你會(huì)去做些什么呢？”當(dāng)時(shí)，我正在廚房揉面，我舉起了沾滿白粉的手，輕輕的摸了摸他的頭發(fā)，慢慢地說“傻子，我不會(huì)死的，因?yàn)檫€得給你做餃子呢！”
以后我又想到這份欠稿，我的答案仍是那么的簡(jiǎn)單而固執(zhí)：“我要守住我的家，護(hù)住我丈夫，一個(gè)有責(zé)任的人，是沒有死亡的權(quán)利的”
Echo: More than a year ago, a publication ask me to write. The topic is assigned: what will you do if you had only three months life left?
Jose heard about this and ever asked me curiously, “what will you do?”
Just at that moment, I was kneading dough in kitchen. I raised my hands with white flour, touched his hair gently, and said slowly, “fool! I won’t die! I have to make dumpling for you!”

Echo: Jose! I come back! Several months ago I left with black clothes and now I come back with colorful ones. Are you glad to see me?
At the time I said goodbye to you, sun was shining. The grave yard was silent still except cicada singing.
I sat on the ground, at your sleeping body side, hugging our cross.

Time after time I showed tender care for you. Just like every time I touched your hair, attaching and gentle.
